Stable isotope labelling

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011267

A technique where specific atoms within a molecule are replaced with their non-radioactive, heavier isotopes, such as carbon-13 or nitrogen-15. This modification allows the labeled molecules to be tracked and quantified in complex biological or chemical systems using mass spectrometry or nuclear magnetic resonance. It is widely used in proteomics, metabolomics, and reaction mechanism studies.
