Tracer substance
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012190
A substance, often labeled with a radioactive or stable isotope, that is introduced into a system to follow the path or fate of another substance or to study a biological process. This allows for the detection and quantification of the substance or process under investigation. Common tracers include 14C-labeled compounds or deuterium-labeled water.
