Jacquinot stop
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006275
An optical aperture placed at an intermediate focal plane within a spectrometer, designed to maximize the light throughput without compromising spectral resolution. It is typically a circular opening that defines the solid angle of radiation accepted by the instrument. This stop is particularly relevant in Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to achieve high signal-to-noise ratios.
