Kinetic energy release distribution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006354
A statistical distribution describing the range of kinetic energies released during the unimolecular dissociation of a metastable ion. This distribution is derived from the shapes of broadened product ion peaks observed in mass-analyzed ion kinetic energy spectrometry. It provides detailed information about the energy partitioning and transition state characteristics of ion fragmentation processes.
