Mixed energy release

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007424

A characteristic of a chemical reaction where the energy released during the process is distributed among both the vibrational and translational degrees of freedom of the product molecules. This distribution is influenced by the potential energy surface of the reaction and the dynamics of bond breaking and formation. Reactions can exhibit predominantly vibrational, translational, or a mixed energy release, depending on the specific reaction pathway.
