Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006438
A model describing heterogeneous catalytic reactions where both reactants adsorb onto the catalyst surface before reacting with each other. The reaction then occurs between the adsorbed species on adjacent sites. This mechanism is often observed in gas-solid catalytic processes, such as the oxidation of carbon monoxide over platinum.
