Langmuir-Rideal mechanism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006439
A model for heterogeneous catalytic reactions in which one reactant adsorbs onto the catalyst surface, and then reacts with a non-adsorbed reactant from the gas or liquid phase. The reaction occurs between the adsorbed species and the free species. This mechanism is distinct from the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism where both reactants are adsorbed.
