Light polarization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006583
The orientation of the oscillations of the electric field vector of a light wave in a plane perpendicular to its direction of propagation. In unpolarized light, this vector oscillates in all possible directions, whereas in polarized light, the oscillations are restricted. For instance, in linearly polarized light, the electric field oscillates along a single straight line.
