Limited life-span paradigm
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006594
A model of aging that assumes each organism carries a genetically determined ceiling on how long it can live. Each species is therefore expected to have a characteristic maximum life span, as opposed to a life span set purely by external hazards. A related observation is the Hayflick limit, the finite number of divisions that normal human cells complete in culture.
