Lipophilic ligand efficiency

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006664

A metric used in drug discovery to evaluate the quality of a compound by relating its potency to its lipophilicity. It is calculated as the difference between the negative logarithm of the binding affinity or potency (pIC50 or pEC50) and the logarithm of the partition coefficient (logP or logD). Drug discovery projects often set a minimum target value for this metric, with values greater than 5 considered desirable for lead compounds.
