Mainstream smoke

The smoke drawn through the tobacco product and inhaled by the smoker, representing the primary exposure route for tobacco users. This smoke is generated at high temperatures during the puffing process and contains a complex mixture of gases and particulate matter. It differs in chemical composition and concentration from sidestream smoke, which is emitted from the burning end of the product.
