Sidestream smoke

The smoke emitted from the burning end of a cigarette, cigar, or pipe, distinct from the mainstream smoke inhaled directly by the smoker. This smoke contains many of the same toxic and carcinogenic compounds as mainstream smoke, often in higher concentrations. It is a major component of secondhand smoke.
