Mass discrimination

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006975

The phenomenon in mass spectrometry where the detection efficiency or transmission efficiency of ions varies with their mass-to-charge ratio. This can lead to an inaccurate representation of the relative abundances of different ions in a sample. Mass discrimination effects must be accounted for, often through calibration, to obtain accurate quantitative results.
