Mass calibration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006972
The process of establishing a functional relationship between the instrumental response of a mass spectrometer and the mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) scale. This is accomplished by analyzing one or more standard compounds that produce ions of well-known m/z values across a desired mass range. The resulting calibration function is then used to convert the raw data from the analysis of unknown samples into an accurate mass spectrum, assigning correct m/z values to the detected ions.
