Mass balance equation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006971
A mathematical expression that quantifies the conservation of mass within a defined system over time. It states that the total mass entering a system must equal the total mass leaving the system plus any accumulation or depletion of mass within the system. This principle is applied in ecotoxicology to track the fate and transport of chemical substances in environmental compartments.
