Huggins equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005413

An empirical equation that describes the concentration dependence of the reduced viscosity for dilute polymer solutions. The relationship allows for the determination of the intrinsic viscosity by extrapolating experimental data to zero concentration. The equation states that the reduced viscosity is equal to the intrinsic viscosity plus a term containing the Huggins coefficient, the square of the intrinsic viscosity, and the concentration.
