Transmission efficiency

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012250

The ratio of the number of ions that exit a component of a mass spectrometer to the number of ions that entered it. This parameter quantifies the performance of ion guides, mass analyzers, or other ion-optical elements in transporting an ion beam without loss. The overall transmission efficiency of an entire instrument is the product of the efficiencies of its individual components, from the ion source to the detector.
