Migratory aptitude
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007381
A measure of the relative tendency of different groups to migrate during a rearrangement reaction. This property is influenced by electronic and steric factors, determining which group will preferentially move to an electron-deficient center. For example, in the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation, the migratory aptitude of groups follows a general order.
