Nanoscopic film
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007760
A film whose lateral dimensions lie between 0.1 and 100 nanometres, so it is a nanometre-sized patch on a surface. The name classifies a film by its extent across the surface, not its thickness. The next larger class, the microscopic film, spans 0.1 to 100 micrometres, and macroscopic films exceed 100 micrometres.
