Planar film
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008997
A film possessing a flat, two-dimensional geometry, where its thickness is significantly smaller than its lateral dimensions. These films are formed on a flat substrate or at a liquid-gas or liquid-liquid interface. The Langmuir-Blodgett technique is a method for creating highly ordered planar films one monolayer at a time from amphiphilic molecules spread on a liquid subphase.
