Nanoscopic polymer film
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013319
A polymer film with a thickness in the nanometer range, where at least one dimension is between 1 and 100 nanometers. The properties of such a film, including its glass transition temperature and mechanical behavior, can differ from those of the bulk material due to confinement effects and the high surface-area-to-volume ratio. The thickness of these films is precisely measured using techniques such as ellipsometry or atomic force microscopy.
