Nerve conduction velocity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007832
The speed at which an electrochemical signal, or action potential, travels along the axon of a neuron. This measurement reflects the functional integrity of a nerve fiber, with faster speeds indicating a healthier nerve. Nerve conduction velocity is typically measured in meters per second (m/s) and is faster in myelinated nerve fibers compared to unmyelinated ones.
