Neutron depth profiling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007916
A non-destructive analytical technique that uses a beam of thermal neutrons to determine the concentration and depth distribution of specific isotopes within a material. The neutrons induce nuclear reactions, and the emitted charged particles are detected and their energies analyzed to infer the depth. This method is particularly sensitive to isotopes like boron-10, lithium-6, and nitrogen-14.
