Image depth profile

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005593

A technique in surface chemical analysis that combines depth profiling with imaging capabilities to provide a three-dimensional elemental or molecular distribution within a sample. It involves sequentially removing layers of material from the surface while simultaneously acquiring images of the exposed surface at each depth. This method is often employed in secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) to visualize the spatial distribution of species as a function of depth.
