Depth profile

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003038

A plot or representation showing the concentration or distribution of one or more elements or chemical species as a function of depth from the surface of a material. This analytical technique is used to characterize the composition of thin films, coatings, and interfaces. Depth profiles are typically generated by sputtering or etching away successive layers of the material and analyzing the exposed surface.
