Non-bioenvironmental transformation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008003
A chemical change of a substance that occurs in the environment without the direct involvement of biological organisms or their metabolic processes. These transformations are typically driven by abiotic factors such as photolysis, hydrolysis, oxidation, or reduction. This distinguishes them from biodegradation, which relies on biological activity.
