Non-linear optical polymer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008038

A polymeric material that exhibits a non-linear response to an applied electromagnetic field, meaning its optical properties change with the intensity of the incident light. These polymers are designed with specific chromophores that possess large hyperpolarizabilities. They are used in applications such as optical switching, frequency doubling, and data storage.
