Non-ideal, linear chromatography

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008026

A chromatographic process characterized by a linear distribution isotherm, meaning the partition coefficient is constant, but where other factors cause deviations from ideal behavior. These non-ideal effects include axial dispersion, slow mass transfer kinetics, and finite column efficiency. Such conditions lead to peak broadening and reduced resolution despite a linear relationship between solute concentration in the stationary and mobile phases.
