Non-ideal, non-linear chromatography

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008027

A chromatographic separation characterized by both non-ideal kinetic effects and non-linear adsorption isotherms, leading to complex peak shapes and retention behavior. The non-linear isotherms cause concentration-dependent retention, while non-ideal kinetics contribute to peak broadening and asymmetry. This type of chromatography is observed when solute concentrations are high or when mass transfer limitations are present.
