Non-linear optical techniques

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008039

Experimental methods that exploit the non-linear response of materials to intense light, typically from lasers, to probe molecular properties or generate new light frequencies. These techniques provide information not accessible through linear optical methods, such as molecular symmetry or ultrafast dynamics. Examples include coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) and two-photon absorption spectroscopy.
