Ideal, non-linear chromatography

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005575

A theoretical model of chromatography where the distribution isotherm is non-linear, but other factors such as mass transfer kinetics and column imperfections are disregarded. This simplification allows for the mathematical treatment of retention and band broadening under conditions where the sample concentration affects the retention behavior. The ideal model provides a baseline for understanding the effects of non-linear isotherms before considering kinetic and dispersion phenomena.
