Oligo

A prefix derived from Greek, meaning 'few' or 'small'. In chemistry, it is used to denote a polymer or macromolecule composed of a relatively small number of repeating monomer units, typically between two and ten. Examples include oligosaccharides, which are short chains of sugar units, and oligonucleotides, which are short strands of nucleic acids.
