Small molecule
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010948
A molecule of low relative molecular mass whose structure is not composed of multiple repeating constitutional units. In contrast to a macromolecule, the addition or removal of one or a few atoms from a small molecule alters its chemical and physical properties. The conceptual dividing line is whether the properties are a function of the entire structure or an average over many repeating units.
