Partially engulfed particle
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008499
A multicomponent polymer particle in which one polymer wraps most of the other polymer's surface without enclosing it completely, a shape often called a hemisphere. The degree of coverage depends on the interfacial tensions between the two polymers and the surrounding medium, and it can vary when neither polymer prefers to cover the other. Complete coverage would instead give a core-shell particle.
