Particle-induced gamma-ray-emission analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008512
A nuclear analytical technique that identifies and quantifies elements in a sample by detecting characteristic gamma rays emitted during bombardment with charged particles, such as protons or alpha particles. The incident particles excite the atomic nuclei, which then de-excite by emitting prompt gamma radiation. This method is non-destructive and provides information on elemental composition, particularly for light elements like lithium, boron, and fluorine.
