Radioisotope induced X-ray emission analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009893
An analytical technique that uses X-rays emitted from a radioisotope source to excite characteristic X-rays from a sample. When the sample is irradiated, its constituent elements emit secondary X-rays with energies characteristic of each element. These emitted X-rays are then detected and analyzed to determine the elemental composition of the sample, often in a non-destructive manner.
