Peak stripping
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008575
A data treatment step in elemental mass spectrometry for an unresolved multiplet peak, where part of the signal comes from an interfering species that has several isotopes. The interference is removed by measuring a different isotope of that species, scaling its intensity with the known natural isotopic abundance ratio and subtracting the result. A typical application is stripping an isobaric overlap away from the signal of the analyte element.
