Peptoid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008617
A class of synthetic polymers that are structural mimics of peptides, also known as poly-N-substituted glycines. Unlike peptides, where side chains are attached to the alpha-carbon of the backbone, the side chains in peptoids are attached to the backbone's nitrogen atom. This structural modification makes peptoids resistant to degradation by proteases, a property that makes them attractive candidates for drug discovery and biomaterial development.
