Polymer reaction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009186

A chemical process that results in the transformation of a polymer's constitutional units. This includes reactions that modify the side groups attached to the polymer backbone or processes that alter the main chain itself through cleavage, cross-linking, or other structural changes. Such reactions are distinct from polymerization, which is the process of forming the polymer from monomers.
