Peripheral blood leukocyte

Any white blood cell circulating in the bloodstream, as opposed to those residing in lymphoid organs or other tissues. These cells, including neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils, are key components of the innate and adaptive immune systems. Peripheral blood leukocytes are frequently isolated from blood samples for immunological assays, cell counting, and the diagnosis of infections, inflammatory conditions, and hematological malignancies.
