Phantom chain behaviour
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008714
A theoretical model for polymer networks where the network junctions are assumed to be able to pass through each other without steric hindrance. This model simplifies the calculation of network elasticity by ignoring topological constraints. While an idealization, it provides a baseline for understanding the elastic response of real polymer networks.
