Phocomelia

A congenital malformation characterized by the severe shortening or absence of proximal limbs, resulting in hands and feet being attached close to the trunk. This condition can be caused by genetic factors or exposure to teratogens during embryonic development. The drug thalidomide is a well-known cause of phocomelia.
