Phosphono
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008783
A prefix used in chemical nomenclature to denote the presence of a -P(O)(OH)2 group, derived from phosphonic acid, as a substituent in an organic molecule. This functional group contains a phosphorus atom double-bonded to one oxygen and single-bonded to two hydroxyl groups. For example, 2-phosphonopropanoic acid contains this group.
