Photoinduced discharge
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008875
The process by which an electrical charge stored on the surface of a photoconductive material is neutralized or dissipated upon exposure to light. When photons strike the material, they generate electron-hole pairs, which migrate under the influence of an electric field, effectively discharging the surface potential. This phenomenon is central to the operation of xerography and other electrophotographic imaging technologies.
