Photohydration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008874
A photochemical reaction involving the addition of water across a double bond or to an aromatic system, initiated by light absorption. This process typically leads to the formation of a hydroxyl group and a hydrogen atom at the sites of the original unsaturation. It is a common reaction for certain unsaturated organic compounds, such as pyrimidines.
