Polymorph
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009206
A solid crystalline material that can exist in more than one crystal structure, each with distinct physical properties such as melting point, solubility, and density. These different crystal forms arise from variations in the arrangement of molecules within the crystal lattice. Polymorphs of a pharmaceutical compound can exhibit different bioavailability and stability, which impacts drug formulation and efficacy.
