Prosthesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009561
An artificial device, often constructed from biocompatible polymers, designed to replace a missing or defective body part. These devices are engineered to restore function, such as in an artificial limb, or for cosmetic purposes. Materials used include silicone for soft tissue replacements, polyethylene for joint surfaces, and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) for bone cements.
