Proteinuria

The presence of an abnormally high concentration of protein in the urine, indicating impaired kidney function. Under normal physiological conditions, the kidneys filter blood, retaining most proteins while allowing waste products to be excreted. A healthy individual typically excretes less than 150 mg of protein per day.
