Proteoform
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009594
All the different molecular forms of a protein that arise from a single gene, including those resulting from genetic variations, alternative splicing, and post-translational modifications. Each proteoform represents a distinct molecular entity with potentially unique biological activity. Characterizing proteoforms is a central goal of proteomic research.
