Splicing

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011235

A process in molecular biology where introns, non-coding regions, are removed from a precursor messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule, and exons, coding regions, are joined together. This modification produces a mature mRNA molecule that can be translated into a protein. Splicing occurs within the nucleus of eukaryotic cells.
